John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to San Diego during elementary school. He returned to Minnesota for college but then came back to San Diego where he married his childhood sweet heart. John enlisted with the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war where he was trained as a Green Beret. Following service in the Army, John pursued a Masters in Business Administration and became involved in the real estate industry. While managing his own real estate company, John went to law school at night. In 1983, he sold his real estate company and entered the practice of law. The Law Offices of John R. Sorensen was established in 1987.
While real estate remains a siginificant part of his practice, John has taken on a broad range of civil litigation and has achieved excellent results for his clients in personal injury, business and employment litigation, including achievements in the area of medical malpractice and recovery of damages for fraud and related causes of action.
